Hanoi, October 20, 2023 – Many experts and scientists from the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and more have accepted invitations to join Advisory Board and the Technical Board for the Talk Green Future competition.
ADVISORY BOARD
The Advisory Board aids in formulating standardized regulations, competition format, and the criteria for marking and awards throughout the competition. The Advisory Board comprises esteemed leaders and experts in the fields of education, sustainable development, engineering, and socioeconomics.
DR. MAI-LAN LE
Dr. Mai-Lan Le is the Vice Chairwoman of the Vingroup Joint Stock Company. In 2013, she was tasked with setting up Vinschool, a not-for-profit K-12 education system, with the goal of transforming the Vietnamese educational system based on highest international standards. Since then, Vinschool has become the largest educational system in Vietnam with a core of quality teachers and robust programs.
In 2017, Dr. Mai-Lan Le began to lead another major education project within Vingroup: VinUniversity, a not-for-profit and prestigious university that aspires to develop talents for the future, create breakthroughs in Vietnamese higher education system, and become a world-class university.
MS. HA-THUY PHAN
Ms. Ha-Thuy Phan is the CEO of the Vinschool Education System. Under her leadership, Vinschool has become the largest education system in Vietnam with 50 campuses and taken on a pioneer position in reforming education in Vietnam.
In 2022, with the mission to integrate elite models of global education into Vietnam, Ms. Ha-Thuy Phan once again impacted the Vietnamese education system by bringing Brighton College to Vietnam. Her contribution to the Vietnamese education system has proven that she is one of the key figures in this sector.
She received her Bachelor degree at Hue University of Education and Masters at the University of Sheffield (UK). With more than 30 years working in the education sector, Ms. Ha-Thuy Phan is experienced in teaching, building, and managing different levels in the Vietnamese education system, from kindergarten to high school.
DR. THAI-HA LE
Dr. Thai-Ha Le currently serves as the Managing Director of the VinFuture Foundation and Member of the Executive Board of “For Green Future” Foundation. Prior to these roles, Dr. Thai-Ha Le had around three years of experience as the Director of Research and a Senior Faculty member at the Fulbright School of Public Policy and Management, and seven years of experience as a Senior Lecturer at RMIT University Vietnam. Her main fields of research, which she has published over 60 scholarly research papers, consist of Energy Economics, Empirical Economics, and Applied Economics.
According to rankings from Stanford University and published by PLoS Biology, in 2021, Dr. Thai-Ha Le was listed in the top 1% of the most influential scientists in the world across all scientific disciplines.
MS. THUY-DUONG DO
Ms. Thuy-Duong Do currently serves as the Head of Corporate Culture of Vingroup JSC. In 2008, she founded TalentPool, a leading leadership management and development consultancy solution in Vietnam. TalentPool aims to unlock the potential within every individual and accompany them on their leadership journey to make the world a better place. She gained substantial leadership experience from top universities such as Harvard, Oxford, and ENA. With 15 years in entrepreneurship, Ms. Thuy-Duong Do has developed numerous leadership programs and models, which led to her success in influencing female leaders, personal growth, and entrepreneurship.
DR. MORGAN CARROLL
Dr. Morgan Carroll currently serves as the Director of Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) at Vingroup and VinFast. He is responsible for developing and implementing global ESG strategies in Vingroup and VinFast to enhance the business sustainability culture.
With his expertise in the fields of Business and Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ), Dr. Morgan Carroll has gained experience working with major mining corporations, such as Barrick Gold, Anglo Ashanti, Placer Dome, Baker Hughes/Western Geophysical. He has also worked in the hospitality and real estate industries in key positions. During his tenure at these companies, Dr. Carroll held strategic positions, including Acting Operational Director and Chairman. He has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Cape Town and a Ph.D. in Business from Harris University. As an avid Philanthropist he contributed funding and assisted in humanitarian aid throughout Africa, working with St John of Jerusalem Knights of Malta, receiving a nomination for Knighthood, partaking in various medical support programs with International SOS, as well as working in collaboration with Medical Rescue International providing medical support in Angola focusing on post-war conflict famine and rehabilitation programs; supported campaigns with the African Medical Research Foundation for health work in Southern Africa Countries. Additionally, he is a credible reference in the field of numismatics.
DR. HUY–HIEU PHAM
Dr. Huy-Hieu Pham currently holds the position of Assistant Professor at the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at VinUniversity. Additionally, he serves as a Research Fellow and Associate Director at VinUni-Illinois Smart Health Center (VISHC). Dr. Huy-Hieu Pham received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the Institute of Research in Computer Science of Toulouse (IRIT), France, in 2019 and a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Informatics from Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) in 2015. Dr. Huy-Hieu Pham is an experienced expert in the fields of Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Statistics, and Medical Image Analysis.
In 2023, Dr. Huy-Hieu Pham is one of the 10 individuals that was awarded the Golden Globe Award for Science and Technology, which was organized by the Youth Union and Ministry of Science and Technology to discover honour outstanding young talents.
TECHNICAL BOARD
The Technical Board is an independent entity comprised of distinguished professionals, globally renowned for their accomplishments and contributions to the fields of environment, sustainable development, education, and debate. The Technical Board is bifurcated into two distinct working groups: Content and Debate.
PROFESSOR SOUMITRA DUTTA
Professor Soumitra Dutta is currently the Peter Moores Dean and Professor of Management at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford. Additionally, he is the President and Co-Founder of the Portulans Institute, which was set up in 2019 as an independent non-profit research institute based in Washington DC.
Prior to July 2012, Professor Dutta was the Roland Berger Chaired Professor of Business and Technology at INSEAD (France) and the Founding Director of eLab@INSEAD, a center of excellence in the digital economy. After that, he was Professor of Management and the former Founding Dean of the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University, New York.
Professor Dutta has been active in the World Economic Forum for more than a decade and has served as the Co-Chair of the Forum’s Global Future Council on Innovation Ecosystems. In 2017, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award from his alma mater, the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. And in 2023 he was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Amity University, India’s largest and leading private university.
PROFESSOR DAVID DAPICE
Professor David Dapice is currently the Economist of the Vietnam Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School. He has worked in and primarily on Southeast Asia since 1971 with most work on Indonesia, Vietnam, and Myanmar. He has studied the Vietnamese economy since the late 1980s, with a particular emphasis on macroeconomic issues, public investment policy, and regional development.
Professor Dapice has worked in agriculture, energy, macroeconomics. He was also the Chair and Professor of Economics at Tufts University from 1973 to 2016. He has advised governments directly and through the Harvard Institute for International Development, Rockefeller Foundation, World Bank, United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
PROFESSOR ANDREW REVKIN
Professor Andrew Revkin is a distinguished environmental journalist and the Founding Director of the Initiative on Communication and Sustainability at the Earth Institute of Columbia University.
He has spent 40 years reporting on environmental challenges and choices, mostly for The New York Times. He began covering global warming in 1988 and never stopped, filing award-winning stories from the North Pole, Amazon rain forest, White House, and beyond. A 2006 Guggenheim Fellowship helped him launch his pioneering and award-winning Dot Earth blog at The Times.
From 2010 through 2016, he served on the Anthropocene Working Group, the expert body commissioned to weigh evidence humans had become such a force for planetary change that we were creating a new geological epoch. He’s written five books, including “The Burning Season,” a prize-winning biography of slain rainforest defender Chico Mendes that was the basis for the 1994 HBO film of the same name. He helped build programs or courses fostering communication impact at the National Academy of Sciences, Columbia and Pace University, and the National Geographic Society.

ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DR. NGUYEN HONG QUAN
Dr Nguyen Hong Quan is currently an associate professor at the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM). He is leading a newly established Institute for Circular Economy Development (ICED), Institute for Environment and Resources (IER), VNU-HCM. He has a special interest in solving environmental-related issues based on inter/trans-disciplinary study and by a strong partnership among academia-industry-government.
He has been working in environmental hydrology (e.g. saline intrusion, flood/drought, water pollution) in Southern Vietnam over the past 15 years and expanded his expertise in other disciplines e.g. climate change adaptation/mitigation, circular economy, socio-ecological system, sustainability science.
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR DR. BRIAN WONG
Dr. Brian Wong is an Assistant Professor in Philosophy at the University of Hong Kong. He is a political theorist and moral philosopher whose research addresses citizens’ political and moral responsibilities under authoritarian regimes, in response to colonial and historical injustices, and in relation to existential risks such as the rise of artificial intelligence. He is also a geopolitical strategist who advises large, multi-national corporations and hedge funds on the interactions between domestic politics and foreign policy of countries in East Asia, especially within China.
Dr. Wong is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford Political Review, and has served in the Governing Body of the Oxford Union, as well as in the core leaderships of the North American and European Universities Debating Championships. He has coached or coaches the Yale Debate Association, Eton College, and the Chinese national team, and was the first ever Hong Kong-born Chinese to have advanced to the open semifinals of the World Universities Debating Championships (2020).
MR. SEOKHO DANIEL YOON
Mr. Daniel Yoon is the Founder and Secretary-General of Debate Korea and an experienced debate coach at Cornell University.
He has taken part in many international debate competitions as a convenor, advisor, or judge, including the Worlds University Debate Championship 2021 in Korea, the World University Debating Championships 2019 in Cape Town, the Asian BP Debating Championships 2019, and North American University Debating Championship 2018. Mr. Yoon was also an advisor and judge for the final round of the Hanoi BP Debate Championship 2018, which was supported by Debate Korea and the International Faculty – Hanoi National University.
He also participated in the Inter-Korean Summit between President Moon Jae-In and Kim Jong Un in 2018 as an Organizer of the Press Center and has most recently taken part in the G20 Youth Conference Y20 Indonesia 2022.
MS. MY-LINH PHAN
Ms. My-Linh Phan holds a Master’s degree in International Education from Southern Oregon University. She has traveled to 29 different countries and taught in America, Italy, The Dominican Republic, and Korea before finally settling down in Vietnam. In 2017, she was honored as a Teacher Champion by the United Nations Living Rainforest Foundation for her dedication to global sustainable development goals.
As a debate judge, Ms. My-Linh achieved remarkable success, becoming the first Vietnamese judge to rank among the Top 20 Judges, and breaking and judging the quarterfinal at the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC) 2018 in Croatia. She also served as a judge for the Vietnamese national team at the Harvard College Debate tournament and the International Debate Weekend in Singapore.
MR. ANH-TUAN VU
Mr. Anh-Tuan Vu is the Co-Founder of the Vietnamese Debating Association and Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee for the World Schools Debating Championship Vietnam 2023 for high school students. He is a highly accomplished debate coach with numerous achievements in Vietnam. With passion and real-world experience on global debate stages, he paved the way for the global standard debate format to be introduced in Vietnam. He has also been selected as a judge and an organizing committee member by many prestigious international debate competitions worldwide.
